Google's Chromecast device for Bitcasa
With Chromecast, you can easily enjoy your favorite online entertainment on your HDTV—movies, TV shows, music, and more from Netflix, YouTube, Google Play, and Chrome. No more huddling around small screens and tiny speakers. Chromecast automatically updates to work with a growing number of apps.
I think it would be a great idea to add Bitcasa to Google's Chromecast to allow the end user to stream movies or music from Bitcasa Infinite Drive.
Sending files to ChromeCast should be possible without have to open them before!
The "send to ChromeCast" button should be located in the menu where the share button is.
If there are more than one ChromeCast located, then a pop-up should open where you can choose the stick to send to.
Hey all – quick update here, we have this working on Android and the Web App in a development environment. Unfortunately, we have not been “whitelisted” by Google at this time. They remain in “Developer Preview”, with no defined end date, meaning we can’t release until whitelisted. Will keep you all in the loop on this as soon as we hear anything!
Do you really expect that we still trust to the story about the whitelisting? Now Google had open the SDK so please give us an update about the real status. I try not to comment what I think about this sentence: "we have this working on Android and the Web App in a development environment."

So now that everything is opened up, and the wait is over, is this still in the works? How long should we expect for this to roll out?

Yes the SDK is open now https://developers.google.com/cast/
I believe the SDK is now open. So let's get an ETA on this.

Any news on this now that Google has introduced a large group of new whitelisted developers such as Plex?
Thank you Behnke!
Great news! Very pumped about this feature. Google has been being very slow to allow Chromecast streaming from 3rd parties... Not sure why they are holding everything up. Plex has had the same issue.
Hopefully they will get their **** together soon. Thanks for all yalls work to bring this feature!
I am glad its started! Once they release the chromecast APi this will make bitcasa worth every cent

I just received my Chromecast and I think having this option would be invaluable. It would really be a 1 up on the competition.
Great news! Chromecast for Bitcasa is on the way! Check it here:
I'll publish soon in my blog also:

Would love to see this feature added. You guys have done amazing things in getting any video to play on devices, and this is what would make you unique compared to the other companies building with Chromecast.
This would be amazing if the webplayer supported chromecast natively as opposed to casting the screen which is a lower frame rate.

Thanks for the update. I haven't yet been able to play with the chromecast so I didn't know about this key fact. I do understand the function of chromecast when it comes to streaming, but I thought the device has applications preloaded like YouTube to stream content from the internet once you start an instance from your smartphone??? I'm still learning all the functions of chromecast and hope to purchase the device when it becomes available in my area. Thanks.
chromecast doesn't actually have applications installed on it... It is just listening to what your phone/tablet/pc tells it to do, and goes and does it... Like getting videos from sources and such.. Your phone is used to authenticate the chromecast to access secured content, and then the chromecast itself streams the video directly from the source to your tv.
What i think you are saying, is that on a smartphone for instance, a stream or "open with" chromecast option should be provided for sending files to the tv inside the phone app. This should be possible.
Otherwise, you can always use a PC with chrome to mirror your browser tab (including the bitcasa website). However, this will not be effective for media files because the chrome extension for chromecast doesn't cast audio from the tab, so audio would be playing on your pc speakers, instead of the tv, but video would be mirrored.
On the whole the technology is good, but it doesn't support using the laptop audio output instead or the TV's speakers. This is useful if you want to cast the video onto a big LCD screen that doesn't have built in speakers.

Gavin B. - You are correct, but wouldn't it be cooler to access your content via an application already preloaded on Chromecast? Simple and fast access to Bitcasa already preloaded on Chromecast.
